Nice ride! I have a midnight blue C4S with ducktail myself. You can install a turbo lid above the ducktail. You'll get.rid of the brake light. A good idea is to put some spacers on too, 7mm front and 10mm in the rear from what I can see. Enjoy the modification journey!

I don’t think someone with 200 to spend would look at a Scud OR a 296. Totally different cars aimed at different people. I’ve just done a 2500 mile road trip in mine which would’ve been much less exciting in a 296.

When the Beckham Academy launched down by the millennium dome there was a WOW entrance corridor with stands of Pele shirts and Ronaldo boots etc. really impressive entrance - to an astroturf pitch! I’m sure you can Google it, might be some inspiration

Totally agree. I have a PHEV and for us, in EV mode, the car does 95% of our journeys. A longer run uses the engine to give around 500 miles total range. No anxiety, no problem finding a petrol pump (if you actually need one). I went for the Seat Leon FE e hybrid which in summer is telling me I've got 42 miles range across town. You can pick these up new from £26K and are basically a VW Golf GTE. I've seen some comments by EVangelists that say plug in hybrids are the worst of both, but I disagree. I think they're the best of both. It's like having two cars in one. An EV around town and a petrol for longer journeys. Another criticism is that you're carrying around an engine everywhere which blunts the economy. I still get 55mpg on a motorway journey even with a flat EV battery. The car weighs 1550Kg compared to 1800kg for an ID.3. Why carry around a very heavy battery if most journeys are short? The government should be pushing for plug in hybrids and eyeing up full EVs. But, the charging infrastructure badly needs to catch up and home charging isn't easy for 10s of millions of households. That's what really needs addressing.

So is electricity cheap or free in the uk. Unless your using solar , how much electricity is it using every night.

I would imaging the price floor will be the battery value.

Electric cars are in the space where PCs were 20+ years ago. Rapid development in Components (especially the battery) means the BOM cost is reducing and the range / charging rate increasing each year. This will make it harder for manufacturers to charge a premium . I’m interested in what you find out about longevity of battery and motor. Given the lack of mechanical moving parts, this means an EV should easily outlast an ICE.

For the noise alone…..all day long!! Looking forward to the future content on it 😉

FYI my wife’s BMW i3 120Ah bought in 2020 ( mid pandemic) on 4 year PCP which is about to come to an end. Assuming there are no issues at the MOT today we plan to buy it at the end of the month because a) it suits my wife’s needs very well b) balloon payment is lower than current market value.

I have the Audi equivalent, the A3 Etron. I love it and have had no real issues but I would qualify recommendation based on 2 factors-you have to be able to afford to run it and if it goes wrong, fix it. The former point is it's Group 33 insurance here in the U.K., plus I would recommend checking that newer used models don't go over the luxury car tax limit, thus attracting a further £410 per year (my car at £42,500 rrp OTR did-thankfully I've finished the last of these!) and the latter is that the drive-train is very complex, consisting of engine. motor, dual clutch, dual mass flywheel, double coolant systems, plus battery and associated electronics (the list goes on and on!) It's a real feat of engineering but if it breaks, you have to be able to afford to fix it-or have an aftermarket warranty to cover this. Regular servicing on/before what the book states is I would say especially important on these cars. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's a fantastic car, just make sure you can afford it. I also charge the battery via home solar panels (and a Zappi charger) and much of my mileage is free in the warmer months (pretty much from mid-May to end-September here in the south of Blighty).

Interested to learn the total energies used. Did you say 4.9miles per KWh on electric only. That seems incredibly high. The power of regen is great but presumably similar across BMW pHEV and BEV models. I drive both our BMW i3 and Nissan Ariya largely on single pedal and love the message on regen miles at the end of a trip. As others have commented I’d be concerned about the extra complexity and servicing costs in the long run. Are you on an overnight EV tariff which will encourage plugging in even using a 3 pin charger.

What they don't mention is the problems caused by these software updates. 4 visits to the dealer for a total of 7 days for them to fix features that were broken by the software update on a 2018 Velar (e.g auto high beam, seat entry/exit mode)

I have the Etron GT, thankfully got 10k discount on new which helps along with business tax incentives. Its a fantastic daily which I will have to keep for a while for the losses to balance out.

Should you run out of soft adjustment on the dampers, worth trying one inch smaller wheels, fitted with a higher profile tyrs. Also worth having the under-rbody dry ice blasted, then treated with rust inhibitor and a protective coating. Cheaper than welding in the long-term.

You have said a used gen 1 is half the price of a gen 2 which is £45k. I have been looking and a 21 with 15k miles is £28ish so can you point me in direction of a £23k car and I would be very appreciative
